
Vijay K. Thadani, born in 1951, is the CEO of NIIT Limited. As the co-founder of NIIT, he has built an organization that is recognized for taking computer education out of the confines of a few exclusive universities and bringing it to the masses. NIIT is not only India's most respected and largest IT education player, it has also found a place in IDC's Top 20 IT Training Companies of the world survey. Mr. Thadani has been leading the company's globalization efforts since 1991, taking the NIIT flag to over 40 countries. As the Chairman of NIIT USA, based out of Atlanta (1999-2003), he mentored NIIT's Strategic Alliance Program that resulted in successful acquisitions of leading technology companies in the USA and Europe. As the President of the leading IT industry association, MAIT, Mr. Thadani has played a key role in the formulation of Government policy on National Information Infrastructure. In 1999, Mr. Thadani was recognized by his alma mater, IIT Delhi, as a "Distinguished Alumnus." For his outstanding contribution in the field of management, he was conferred the Bank of India Award for Excellence in 2000. Mr Thadani was recently honored with the position of Economic Consultant to Chongquing, world's largest city in China.
