Purnima Gupta, B.Arch.1968, M.Arch. University of Illinois 1970
Purnima Gupta spent all her India years on Roorkee campus, first as a faculty daughter, then as a student and a research scholar. Her interest in her Alma Mater goes beyond her academic life. She has delivered lectures at Roorkee on several occasions. She is the founder secretary (1973) and 4th time President of the National Chapter of the Alumni Assn. (the Assn which started out as Roorkee University Alumni Assn and merged into PANIIT-Roorkee Alumni Assn. of North America.)
She personally initiated several chapters in the USA. During the past three and a half decades she has personally interacted with Alumni Association at Roorkee, alums all around the world, and kept up with students and faculty members at Roorkee on a continual basis.
She is quoted among Roorkeeites in the publication, "IIT- India's Intellectual Treasures".
She is honored by Vice President of India for her writing fiction and is honored on behalf of President of USA as an Outstanding New Citizen of USA.
From Washington D.C. 2005 till today, she has attended all the PANIIT golbal conferences without failure. She took initiative with 'Women's Forum' at the Conference. Since then she is credited with hosting Bridge for IITians on Bridgebase Online, and initiating IIT Writers' Forum. Purnima represents the IITians of the Carolinas.
