Subodh Bhargava

Subodh Kumar Bhargava has been an Advisor to the Eicher Group of Companies in Delhi, since March 31, 2000. Previously, Mr. Bhargava served as Eicher Group Chairman and Chief Executive until his retirement since March 31, 2000 where he joined in 1975 as General Manager.

Mr. Bhargava has been a key spokesperson for Indian industry, served as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and the Vice President ... of the Tractor Manufacturers Association. He started his career with Balmer Lawrie & Co., Calcutta in 1962. He is also the mentor of two start-up companies -Autoparts Asia Pvt. Ltd. and Nicco Internet Ventures Ltd. He has been Non-Executive Chairman of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. since April 12, 2005. Mr. Bhargava serves as Chairman of the National Accreditation Board for Certifying Bodies (NABCB) under the aegis of the Quality Council of India (QCI). He serves as Chairman of Wartsila India Limited, Auto Parts Asia.com Pvt. Limited and Lanbit India Pvt. Limited. Mr. Bhargava serves as chairman of Samcor Glass Ltd., and Rane Engine Valves Ltd. Mr. Bhargava serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board and Member of the Advisory Board of Genesis Public Relations.

Mr. Bhargava has been an Independent Non Executive Director of Glaxosmithkline Consumer Healthcare Ltd. since April 30, 2004. He has been an Independent Director of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd., since May 2002. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of Samtel Color Limited since May 24, 2000. He has been a Non Executive Director of Carborundum Universal Ltd. since October 2000. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of TRF Ltd. since October 2000. He serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Rane Engine Valves Ltd. and Batliboi Ltd. He serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Wartsila Nsd India Ltd. He serves as a Director of IIM, Indore, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad. Mr. Bhargava was a member of the central boards of the State Bank of India. He serves as a Trustee of the India Brand Equity Fund, the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People and the Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust. He serves as a member of the Insurance Tariff Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Board of the government of Rajasthan and the board of governors of the Centre for Policy Research. He serves on the boards of governors of other institutions for graduate engineering and bachelors and master’s degree Programmes in business management.

Mr. Bhargava has been closely associated with technical and management education. He is also on the senior panel of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and on the committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Department, GoI for policy perspectives for management education.

Mr. Bhargava holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the IIT, Roorkee.
