Rajesh Subramaniam currently holds the first executive-level international marketing position at FedEx, in which he has worldwide responsibility for the strategic direction, development and management of the FedEx global product portfolio and the company’s international marketing function across more than 220 countries and territories served by FedEx. The company created the position in response to the exponentially growing needs of the global marketplace and the FedEx international business.
Based at the FedEx global headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, Subramaniam heads up strategic planning, market analysis, customer experience, global advertising and brand and reputation management programs across Canada, Latin America & Caribbean, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
With more than 17 years of first-hand global experience at FedEx – ranging from President of FedEx Express in Canada and Vice President of Marketing and Communications in Asia – Subramaniam has played a critical role in creating sustained international growth at FedEx.
During his tenure as President of FedEx Canada, Subramaniam’s leadership generated record levels of profitability, brand awareness and employee engagement. In Asia, he was responsible for developing and executing a business strategy that resulted in FedEx becoming the express market leader in the region.
A self-proclaimed "Citizen of the World," Subramaniam understands the complex and shifting dynamics caused by the explosive growth of economies around the world. Since joining FedEx in 1991, FedEx has benefited substantially from his broad outlook, expertise in global trade and comprehensive understanding of the international theater given his diverse roles across various functions and geographies.
In 2006, Subramaniam received the 2006 EXCEL award for excellence in communications from the International Association of Business Communicators and the President's Award from the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the Conference Board of Canada and the Board of the Toronto Film Festival.
Subramaniam was born in Trivandrum, India. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from The Indian Institute of Technology. He went on to earn two post-graduate degrees - a Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
