PanIIT American Leadership Awards

 

It is with great pleasure we announce the winners of Pan IIT American Leadership Awards 2009. This is the first time we, as alumni, are recognizing the best amongst us and across all seven IIT campuses.

The winners are as follows:

Lifetime Achievement Award: Rajeev Motwani, (Late) Professor of Computer Science at Stanford

Rajeev won several awards including the prestigious Godel prize in 2001. He was the co-author of an early paper on PageRank algorithm which formed the basis for Google. He was an advisor/mentor to numerous companies and entrepreneurs.

Academic Excellence Award: Pradeep Khosla, Dean, College of Engineering, CMU

Pradeep is a highly regarded name in academia. He has received several awards and is an elected Fellow of IEEE, AAAI, and AAAS. Pradeep has written three books, and over 350 journal articles. He is also a consultant for companies and VCs and serves on the technology advisory board for several companies.

Corporate Excellence Award: Padmasree Warrior, CTO Cisco

Padmasree was formerly the CTO of Motorola. A highly successful corporate leader, she was named as one of the four rising stars by Fortune magazine on its Most Powerful Women in Business list and was ranked 11th Most Influential Global Indian by the Economic Times.

Entrepreneurial Achievement Award: Suhas Patil, Chairman Emeritus Cirrus Logic, Chairman Digite and Cradle Technologies

Suhas was the founder of Cirrus Logic, one of world’s leading semiconductor company. He was also a co-founder and visionary behind TiE. Suhas is an angel investor in several start-ups and is also a philanthropist. A 1965 graduate, he is still as active as ever.

Technology Leadership Award: Ravi Sethi, President, Avaya Labs Research

Perhaps best known for the “dragon book” which is a bible for compiler students, Ravi has had an exceptionally distinguished career. Ravi was a senior VP at Bell labs, and has headed two of the three research divisions there. He also served as CTO at Lucent.
