Innovation & Technology in Education (ED1)

Time:  2:10 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.                                           Location:  Utopia Ballroom

Demand for education is growing. Today the education paradigm has changed because of technology – the internet, computers, fiber optics and mobile phones. But the education system, schools and universities are designed on 100-year old concept. When we think of schools, we automatically think of chalk board, textbooks, exams, grades and certificates. But these do not hold anymore. So how do we redefine education, reform the system and innovate the existing machinery to realize the PanIIT vision of providing accessible, affordable and relevant quality education to the youth for greater roles in the global economy.

Moderator:  Hiten Ghosh                                               Producer:  Murali Bhogavalli

Globalization of Education & Entrepreneurship (ED2)

Time:  3:40 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.                                Location: Utopia Ballroom

Global supply chains have been established for most product and service industries. However, for the most part education has remained a local phenomenon with most universities in the developed world attracting the bright and talented students from the emerging markets. This has resulted in a “brain drain” from the less advanced countries like India to the more advanced countries like the United States. Liberalization of the Indian economy and technological advances has prompted many professionals who migrated to the developed world to return to their home country. In India, such entrepreneurs have established successful businesses which have fueled economic growth in India. This panel will examine the contribution of entrepreneurs in making the PanIIT vision of providing accessible, affordable quality education that prepares the youth for greater roles in the global economy.

Moderator:  Vivek Wadhwa                                    Producer:  Murali Bhogavalli
