About
Vinod Khosla, Desh Deshpande, Narayana Murthy and countless other IITian Entrepreneurs have made their mark on the world. You could be one of the next great entrepreneurs. The Pan IIT Business Plan Competition aims to provide a platform for enabling discovery, networking, mentoring and funding of new business ideas. The competition will appropriately conclude at the 2009 PanIIT conference in Chicago to be held on October 9 -11, 2009. With the spirit of entrepreneurship at an all time high, this is an opportunity for our alums and students to take their ideas to becoming the next big company. It is the perfect time to find mentors, partners and investors. The Business Plan Competition will be conducted in two stages: Regional Rounds: To be held in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco Bay Area and Boston, during the month of August and September. Teams in other locations including outside the US will participate remotely. Four shortlisted teams will present a pitch in ten minutes, with five minutes for Q & A, at the regional round. A panel of judges will select one team per region to advance to the finals. One mentor will be assigned to the team to help build a full fledged plan. Final Round: To be held on October 9th at the Pan IIT USA Conference in Chicago, IL. The winners from the regional round will compete in the national round, in a format similar to the regional rounds. Eligibility: Entries from pre-revenue start-up teams with at least one IITian as founding member are welcome. Team members be 18 years or older. The plan must be an original business idea. Submission guidelines: You need to provide a two-page Executive Summary for evaluation by August 15th. The executive summary needs to include a concept summary, Market/Industry analysis, Product/Service Description, Revenue/Business model, Competition, Management team and Financials. Timeline Aug 15: Register teams with Team name, and submit Executive Summaries to regional chairs for judging. (We encourage teams to continue working on their business plans after the submission of executive summaries since they would get only a week between the notification of their selection for regional round and the business plan submission deadline.) Aug
